Wang Jian (1036-1103), courtesy name Mingsou, was born in Rugao, Taizhou (now part of Jiangsu). In 1051 (the 3rd year of Emperor Renzong's reign in the Song Dynasty), Wang Zhan and his cousin Wang Guan went to Kaifeng Imperial College to worship Hu Yuan as their teacher. They concentrated on studying the classics of benevolence, righteousness, rituals and music, and developed a righteous spirit. In 1059, 23-year-old Wang Zhan passed the Jinshi examination. He did not want to stay in Beijing for a long time, so he went to Runzhou to serve as a promotion official in 1068. In 1086, Zhezong of the Song Dynasty succeeded to the throne. His official position was correct and he entered the Ministry of Admonition. In the Huizong Dynasty, he served as the minister of the Ministry of Industry and moved to Zhongcheng, the imperial censor. Later, he learned about Runzhou as a bachelor of Longtuge, moved to Haizhou, and finally took up the idle position in charge of Taipingguan and placed Linjiang Army in charge. "History of the Song Dynasty" and "Biography of Wang Jian" said: "When I met the Qing Xiu Jian Dan, no one could see him being happy and angry. He always adhered to the right theory, and he was condemned and expelled again, and many changes occurred." In 1103, Wang Jian "died without illness, at the age of Sixty-eight." He has written 30 volumes of "Admonitions", 30 volumes of "Memories", 50 volumes of "Miscellaneous Papers", and 30 volumes of "Internal Control".
