It takes time to practice good calligraphy. Besides patience, the most important thing is method. Based on my own experience in calligraphy, I will talk about systematic calligraphy skills in the hope that it can bring some inspiration to everyone.
Method 1: Don’t choose regular script for initial practice and start with running script
The strokes of regular script are rigorous. If you want to write well, it will be difficult to achieve results without enough time. This causes most people to lose confidence because they cannot see any signs of progress during practice. The strokes of regular script are rigorous. If you want to write well, it will be difficult to achieve results without enough time. This causes most people to lose confidence because they cannot see any signs of progress during practice. Secondly, while we are practicing calligraphy, we also have to face various writing tasks, and it is impossible to use strict regular script all the time. Therefore, start with running script. When you practice, you will use running script. When you write lesson plans and do homework, you will also use running script. You can achieve the effect of applying what you have learned. This is the most practical approach.
Method 2: Practice the layout of the racks first, and then practice the brushwork
First, please observe how modern buildings are built. Modern buildings often adopt frame structures. Concrete is first poured into beams, columns and floor slabs, then brick walls are laid, and finally decoration is done. The structure of beams and columns determines the shape of a building. Therefore, whether a word can give people a sense of beauty depends on the structure of the strokes, or the layout of the strokes. The spacing of the strokes is reasonable and the layout is appropriate, which is a good character.
Method 3: Practice one word every day
The rule of practice should first be to carry out small-step, specialized practice. Just like learning broadcasting exercises, once you are proficient in one small step, you can then learn the next small step. The same goes for practicing calligraphy. One word a day is enough. But the requirement is that the character can be copied from description to copy, until the character shape on the copybook is the same as the one on the copybook. At this point you can move to the next word. When you have a lot of skills and practice makes perfect, quantitative changes will lead to qualitative changes, and good handwriting will be revealed from your pen.
So how should you practice calligraphy?
1. Point and move the pen from the upper left to the lower right. There is a process of moving the pen. Note that "points" also have length and cannot be combined into dots.
2. Horizontally, move the pen equally from left to right. The key is to "horizontally be flat", not one end high and the other low, or the strokes should be wavy. Control the length according to the font shape of the square font, not too short or too long.
3. Vertically, move the pen vertically from top to bottom. The key is that "the vertical line must be straight", not skewed to the left or right, let alone written as a vertical hook. Control the length according to the font shape of the square font, not too short or too long.
4. For strokes, move the pen from the upper right to the lower left. Do not write dot strokes or horizontal strokes.
5. When folding and writing with a folding pen, the folding corners should be square rather than round. Don't make a big break at the corner, and write it as two obtuse angles off the shoulder, but write it as a right angle.
In addition to methods, only by writing carefully can you write wonderful calligraphy works with or without a pen, a soft pen or a hard pen, even a dead branch or a broken broom.
