Some primary and secondary school students have illegible writing, and even the finished words or class notes in the diary cannot be recognized by themselves. This is a common problem that parents and friends have a great headache and urgently need to improve. And because the exam has a paper score, for teachers and parents whose lifeblood is score, this score is relatively easy to obtain. Nowadays, calligraphy is promoted into schools, which is also an important national policy for cultural revitalization.

According to the local primary and secondary schools I visited, the main reasons why students’ handwriting is not up to par are as follows:

1. With the progress of society, alternative writing tools are more convenient and practical than handwriting.

2. The writing skills of school teachers are uneven, and they do not pay attention to standardized writing education. Even the teachers' writing skills are embarrassing. They only need to be able to write new words, and there is no corresponding practice in stroke order.

3. Classes such as calligraphy, art, music, and physical education are in name only. Even if they are available, they are part-time teachers from other subjects, resulting in the dilemma of "mathematics is taught by physical education teachers."

So how do we get primary and secondary school students to write well? There are only two points: self-study or find a "master" (this master is not that famous master) to take a class. For today's children, enrolling in classes will inevitably take up a lot of their time. They have endless homework in their spare time or weekends, as well as cram schools and interest classes. I think the only feasible way is for parents to supervise their children's self-study. Self-study must first have interest, a correct attitude, and perseverance. With these, I have summarized the following points based on the teaching experience of the calligraphy training classes I visited and shared them with parents and friends.

1. For primary school students, first buy a standard calligraphy copybook that can be used to practice the words in Chinese textbooks simultaneously. Middle school students can choose ancient or modern calligraphy. In order to speed up writing on the basis of standard and neat writing, it is recommended to practice regular script.

2. Don’t be greedy for too much when practicing calligraphy. After finishing their homework, primary school students can write three to five words every day according to the copybook. They can not only review new Chinese characters but also practice calligraphy. Middle school students also choose a few words every day and write them like a picture. When they encounter the words they have practiced in their daily life, they must write them according to the practiced shape.

3. When you start practicing calligraphy, don’t pay too much attention to stroke practice. Just make sure you write the strokes horizontally, vertically and accurately. You can skip this step and go directly to practice the structure (rice-shaped grid is recommended). Practicing the structure is like building a house. Only when the large structure is fine will it be decorated. The practice of strokes is carried out throughout the entire writing career.

4. Set a small goal (not to earn 100 million), write the words you have practiced this week, and then deepen the impression into a piece, such as writing a poem, and compare the effects before and after. This method allows the children to see the progress and increase their confidence. .

5. It is also best for parents to practice together, which not only provides supervision but also has the fun of competition. You can compare with your children who writes better. Appreciation education must also be applied flexibly.

If you can do the above points, you will have unexpected gains. It can be as short as three months or as long as half a year. Your child will definitely impress you.
