1. A word for attacking from all sides.

With the help of the attack from all directions, the ink color naturally shows the shades, wet and dry, dry and wet, thick and light, light and thick, with thousands of changes, making the work full of rhythm. Calligraphers such as Zhiyong, Mi Fu, Wang Chong, and Zhu Zhishan are especially good at this.

2. Cherish ink like gold.

Calligraphers such as Su Shi, Wang Duo, and Wang Wenzhi are examples of those who cherish ink like gold. In cursive writing, write 3-7 characters in one stroke, and the brush hair will recover at the end of each stroke, requiring the paper to be adjusted. The concept of cherishing ink as gold means not only cherishing ink, but more importantly, being able to dip in ink naturally and write naturally, showing changes in shades, wetness and dryness. This is the key to "cherishing ink like gold". The use of ink without rhythm or deliberateness is not good calligraphy.

3. The word suddenly enlightened.

The blank spaces may be wide or narrow, and the wide spaces give people a sense of sudden cheerfulness. Wang Xizhi, Yan Zhenqing, Huang Tingjian, and Dong Qichang all meet this characteristic. Art is the process of creating contradictions and resolving them.

4. Words that use both middle and side characters.

The center forward has the ability to establish his strength, and the wing forward has the strength to seek changes, combining hardness and softness. The center is the requirement of rationality and the core of calligraphy aesthetics; the side is the embodiment of emotion and a means of calligraphy to connect with the gods. Mi Fu, Dong Qichang, Wang Duo, Wang Wenzhi, etc. fall into this category.

5. Words that come together in one breath.

Calligraphy is an expression of emotion, not an expression of skill. You should write in a good state both physically and mentally. When writing, write freely and in one go. Wang Xizhi, Wang Xianzhi, Wen Zhengming, Wang Duo, and Mi Fu are all masters of coherent breath.

6. Words that are well-proportioned.

Generally speaking, the line spacing of works should be wide and the word spacing should be tight. Words should not be placed side by side and should be staggered. There should be gaps between the sections, the arrangement and combination should be rhythmic, the large and small characters should be mixed, and the book eye in the middle should be highlighted. Masters Mi Fu, Tang Yin, Han Shan and others are skilled in this skill.

7. Characters with interesting writing style.

Zhang Jizhi, Liu Yong and others are good at using ink to create interest. How important is it to use ink? Calligraphy is silent music and invisible dance. Seek echoes in the changes to make the whole harmonious and have strong rhythm and visual impact. Use a clumsy pen well, use it slightly slowly, have stillness in the movement, and write with interesting ink.

8. Pay attention to the word "Guanqi".

The spirit of calligraphy refers to the echo between dots and strokes and different characters, and the trend between characters. Typical representatives include Wang Xizhi, Wang Xianzhi and Mi Fu, all of whom successfully integrated momentum and breath.
