It is said that Ouyang Xun passed by a stone tablet written by Suo Jing, a famous calligrapher of the Jin Dynasty, while riding a horse. He stopped and looked at it carefully. After a long time, he was ready to leave on horseback, but he did not go far before he returned. Ouyang Xun jumped off his horse, spread the felt on the ground, then sat down and pondered carefully and repeatedly. In this way, he spent three days pondering next to the stone tablet.

At first, Ouyang Xun practiced calligraphy by imitating Wang Xizhi's calligraphy. Later, he found his own way and became a master of his own. His calligraphy has the highest achievements in calligraphy, with unique structure and strong writing power. He was later praised as "European style". Ouyang Xun's regular script is the most famous, such as "Jiucheng Palace Liquan Ming", and his running script is "Zhang Han Tie", "Meng Dian Tie", etc. are the most famous.
