Should I practice calligraphy word by word, or can I practice different words every day?

When practicing calligraphy, it is best to work step by step and work steadily. My experience in calligraphy practice is: don’t be greedy for too much. Practice about 5 exercises every day. If you still have time and energy, you can copy the entire article!

1. For beginners, I recommend starting with common words, such as: 的, YES, 有, 我. When you first start practicing calligraphy, it's best to be patient, less copying, and more careful.

Posting is by no means a mechanical imitation. You have to observe the details: How beautiful is it when it is written like this on the post? How is the structure? How to write the radical? Left and right height, up and down size, forward and backward, you have to observe it in place.

When you know what you are doing, post it again! This kind of temporary application is done through the brain and has the best effect! However, if you post in a mechanical way without thinking or summarizing, the result is often: you won’t be able to write well without posting!

2. For friends who have a certain foundation, my suggestion is to discover your own problems in time while copying and practicing: you have to face the ugly words yourself!

Now I practice about 5 words every day, choosing words that I am not good at. You need to know which words need to be improved. Of course, if a friend helps you point out your problems, you should take them seriously!

May you continue to practice calligraphy and discover beauty in persistence!
