Chen Zhongkang was born in Yongjia, Zhejiang in 1968. He graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Art) in 1991, majoring in calligraphy. His works have won the "National Award" at the 6th National Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Exhibition, the first prize at the 7th National Youth and Middle-aged Calligraphy Exhibition, the "Weng Tonghe Award" at the Jiangnan Cultural Festival, and the highest award at the Zhejiang Province Calligraphy Exhibition twice in a row.
