Zhang Ruoai (1713-1746), whose courtesy name was Jingcai, whose name was Qinglan, and whose family name was Ouxiang Bookstore, was from Tongcheng, Anhui. Zhang Ruoai was educated in her family. Her grandfather Zhang Ying and father Zhang Tingyu were both bachelors of the Yongzheng and Qianlong dynasties. In the eleventh year of Yongzheng's reign (1733), he was one of the top two Jinshis in the examination list of the Guichou Academy of Sciences. Before leaving the academy, he was specially awarded the title of editor. The later emperor personally awarded him the cabinet bachelor's degree and the minister of the Ministry of Rites. He entered the Zhinan study room and became the minister of the Ministry of Rites.
