Tang Zhen (1481-1546), also known as Zizhong and Renqing, also known as Shuangwu, is called Mr. Shuangwu by scholars. A native of Gaoqiao, Jiading (now Pudong, Shanghai) in the Ming Dynasty, he later moved to the west of Bifengfang in Changzhou (now Suzhou). He was a poet and writer in the Ming Dynasty. Tang Zhen read a lot of books. In her youth, she lived in seclusion in Shihu with brothers Wang Shou and Wang Chong and studied hard for fifteen years. She was originally a student in Wu County. In the tenth year of Jiajing (1531), she was selected to attend Taixue in response to the imperial examination and graduated. During the election, some people advised him to act according to the unspoken rules and find someone to smooth the relationship. Tang Zhen thanked him but refused to go. As a result, he was only offered the official title of Chongde County Magistrate. Therefore, historical records say that he "had unfavorable results in ten examinations and got one official position late."
Although the position of county magistrate is not high, Tang Zhen feels that as long as it can benefit the people, it doesn't matter if he leaves. When he was in office, everything was focused on the convenience of the people. On several occasions when the county magistrate was absent, he took charge of the county affairs. He did not punish the officials and criminals at all. He was pleasant-looking but still managed things in an orderly manner. Therefore, he gained a good reputation and won the favor of the people. He was so beloved that the local people called him "The Son of Buddha".
