"Jiucheng Palace Liquan Ming" is a famous masterpiece by Ouyang Xun, a master of regular script in the early Tang Dynasty. It is a fusion of calligraphy styles from the north and the south. It not only has the handsome character of being steep and lean, but also has a clear and beautiful charm. It is strict in law and dignified in appearance. It is an important model for learning European regular script and has been cherished by scholars of all generations. However, casual practitioners often imitate the exquisite appearance and strict laws of European books but fail to capture its charm. They are either rigid and hard-working, or frugal and rigid. As the Song Dynasty Shiju Jian said, "But noble and dignified is like a puppet that died in the living place." .

The following European regular script was created by Mr. Wang Diru (1905-1993) around the age of 85. At that time, Mr. Wang had been studying European regular script for more than 50 years. His calligraphy had acquired the charm of European style and could show the charm of European style. Its unique character, Xia Ke believes, is beyond the reach of most contemporary calligraphers.

Mr. Diru, the king of Sichuan, is ninety years old. He can be said to be a good student of Ou Neng who can capture its charm and reveal his own character. Looking at the copy of his "Jiucheng Palace", there are three successes:

First, understand the original author's intention through stone carvings. He does not blindly emphasize the sharpness of pointillism and the precision and thoroughness of brushwork and strokes like many casual practitioners. Instead, he loses squares and becomes rounder, eliminates the complex and simplifies it, and writes in a harmonious, round, relaxed and natural way. Without losing its straight and upright spirit. The Qing Dynasty Yao Mengqi's "Zi Xue Yi Shen" says: "European books are square in appearance but round in meaning." Liang Gao's "Chengjin Zhaiji Wenlu" says: "European books use round and round strokes as their temperament and square strokes as their appearance. ", all are wise words. Mr. Wang’s experience of Ou Kai can be said to go deep into its core.

Secondly, the European book is dangerous and rigorous, which makes people think that it is not easy to write it. However, Wang Zhilin's book is based on his proficient grasp of the rules of the European book, and it is written very calmly and loosely. Looking at this kind of copy, we don't have the feeling that Mi Fu said, "Ouyang Xun is like a newly diagnosed patient, with a haggard appearance and hard work." Instead, we can understand the mentality of the person who made the call.

Thirdly, when we compare this copy with Mr. Wang’s earlier copy, we can see that whether it is the use of writing to eliminate complexity and simplify it, or the way of thinking from careful order to loosening up, it clearly reflects the author’s After experiencing all kinds of tastes, I have returned to the changes in the realm of life that are indifferent. Books are like people - from successful writing works, we can also get a glimpse of the writers themselves.

I believe that students of Ou Kai will benefit greatly from this copy.
