Huang Ziyuan (1837-1916), courtesy name Jingyu and Dansou, was a native of Longtang Township, Anhua County, Hunan Province. He worked diligently in calligraphy all his life, drawing on the strengths of Yan, Liu and Ou, and developed his own "Huang" style. He once wrote a Shinto stele for the birth mother of Emperor Tongzhi, and was known as the "Sage of Words". Huang Ziyuan's calligraphy is capable of all styles, but the running script and regular script that survive the most and have the widest influence are undoubtedly his. Huang Ziyuan's calligraphy art seeks to be appreciated by both refined and popular people. His calligraphy is dignified and graceful, elegant and restrained, and full of literary style. It has high artistic value and strong practical functions. His style characteristics and aesthetic orientation are inherited from Jin people Zhong Yao and Xi. , Xian father and son created the tradition of Tie Xue.
