Shen Yinmo (1883-1971), a native of Huzhou, Zhejiang, is a famous scholar, poet, calligrapher and educator. Mr. Shen is good at straight, running and cursive calligraphy, and is especially good at running calligraphy. He first studied with Chu Suiliang, and after the age of 30, he started from Wen Zhengming, Mi Fu, Zhiyong and Yu Shinan and traced back to the two princes and their sons. His calligraphy is clear, round, elegant, vigorous, and has a unique style. There are many explanations on previous discussions. He advocates using the wrist to write, rather than imitating structures. He is also innovative in brushwork and gestures. His works have a high status in the calligraphy world.
