Yu Yue (1821.12.25-1907.2.5), courtesy name Yinfu and self-titled Quyuan Jushi, was a native of Nandai Village, Chengguan Township, Deqing, Zhejiang Province. A famous scholar, writer, classics scholar, paleographer and calligrapher in the late Qing Dynasty. The great-grandfather of the modern poet Yu Pingbo, Zhang Taiyan, Wu Changshuo, and Japan's Inoue Chen Zheng all came from his family. He became a Jinshi in the 30th year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1850) and served as editor of the Hanlin Academy.


Later, Yu Yue was appreciated by Emperor Xianfeng and allowed Henan to study politics. However, Yu Yue was accused by the imperial censor Cao Dengyong of "separating the meaning of the classics through examination questions" and was dismissed from office. Then he moved to Suzhou and devoted himself to academics for more than 40 years. His scholarship is mainly based on Confucian classics, as well as other studies such as Confucianism, history, exegesis, and even opera, poetry, novels, calligraphy, etc. It can be said to be broad and profound. There are many scholars at home and in Japan, Korea and other countries who look to him for study, and they respect him as the master of Pu Xue. He wrote more than 500 volumes, which is called "Chun Zaitang Complete Book". In addition to the fifty volumes of Qunjing Pingyi, Zhuzi Pingyi, sixteen volumes of Tea Fragrance Room Sutra, and seven volumes of Examples of Doubts in Ancient Books, his "First Floor Series" has thirty volumes. , "Quyuan Yulou Miscellaneous Collection" has a total of one hundred volumes. Yu Yue was good at calligraphy and was known as official script in the world. He was one of the representatives of "repressing the calligraphy and promoting the stele" when the stele study flourished in the Qing Dynasty. Yu Yue often wrote letters in official and seal scripts, which shows his love for the past.
