Zhang Xiu was born in Wuhan in July 1962. She is an associate research librarian of the Hubei Provincial Museum, a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, a director of the Hubei Provincial Calligraphers Association, a director of the China Hardware Association, and the vice president of the Hubei Provincial Women's Calligraphers Association.

Zhang Xiu inherited her family education when she was young. Her father was a middle school history teacher and loved painting. As the saying goes, calligraphy and painting have the same origin. In her spare time, she followed her father in writing and painting. Gradually, she was immersed in the influence of art and slowly embarked on the road of art.

When Zhang Xiu was five or six years old, he went to the streets with his father and smeared red paint on the character frames he outlined. Perhaps he got the "quiet" inheritance from his father. Zhang Xiu, who was under ten years old, could sit for a whole day without going out when he started writing. At first, I thought it was fun, but over time, I became obsessed.

She began to learn Yan calligraphy when she was young, and successively studied with calligraphers Zhou Huaqin and Mr. Huang Liang. The works pursue an elegant, simple, powerful and elegant style. Regarding calligraphy, Zhang Xiu has a very good saying. A work, a word, or even a stroke or a stroke should not be a mechanical imitation of the ancients by modern people, but the natural flow of the calligrapher's emotion from the pen.

Since the age of 18, Zhang Xiu has inscribed inscriptions on Mozhenjing, an ancient building in Wudang Mountain, on the gate plaque for Qu Yuan Memorial Hall in Zigui, Hubei, and couplets on Qu Yuan's tomb, and on inscriptions on East Lake and other scenic spots.

Plum blossom from the bitter cold! In 1985, Zhang Xiu won the special prize of the "First National Hard Pen Calligraphy Competition", and subsequently won the first prize of the "Galaxy Cup" and "Xinghua Cup" in the National Calligraphy and Painting Grand Prix six times.

Especially that time, she became the only female calligrapher among the 10 special prize winners in the first national hard-tipped calligraphy competition. It is for this reason that she quickly entered people's field of vision and became well-known.

After that, in 1989, Zhonghua Book Company published "Inscriptions on the Chime Bells of the Tomb of Marquis Zeng Yi", which were all carefully written down by Ms. Zhang Xiu from the unearthed chime bells.
