"Yongle Dadian" Volume 7078 with Tang characters, palimpsest of the Imperial Palace during the Jiajing and Longqing periods of the Ming Dynasty, collected by the National Library of Berlin, Germany.


"Yongle Dadian" is a collection of ancient Chinese classics compiled during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. The whole book has sixty volumes of catalogue, 22,877 volumes of main text, and is packed into 11,095 volumes. It contains seven or eight thousand kinds of classics from the pre-Qin Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty.   


"Yongle Dadian" has suffered repeated catastrophes, and the original copy has disappeared. Today, there are only more than 400 and 800 copies left, scattered in more than 30 public and private collection institutions in nine countries and regions.
