Liu Gongquan (778-865), also known as Chengxuan, was a famous calligrapher in the late Tang Dynasty. In his calligraphy, he first studied Zhong Yao and Wang Xizhi, and later studied Ou, Yu, Chu, and Yan. He integrated the strengths of all calligraphy and became his own style. He is the most famous regular script master in the history of Chinese calligraphy after Yan Zhenqing. The "Liu Ti" created has a strong style, strict rules, rich Taoist strength and insightful backbone.

We know that "Mysterious Tower Stele" and "Shence Army Stele" are better regular script models for beginners to learn regular script. Today we will appreciate Liu Gongquan's cursive calligraphy. "Luo Shen Fu" presented by Lin Wang and "Meng Zhao Tie" are Liu Gongquan's few cursive calligraphy masterpieces.

Liu Gongquan lived in the middle and late Tang Dynasty, which was the period when the Tang Dynasty reached its peak of political, economic and cultural development. Calligraphy, like other arts, has developed to another glorious peak. During this period, there were epoch-making creations in regular script, running script and cursive script.

Liu Gongquan's success lies in the fact that he complied with the inevitable development of the history of calligraphy, knew how to change and had the courage to innovate. He created a new body that was completely different from his predecessors - "Liu Body".

Yan Zhenqing, Zhang Xu, Huai Su, Li Yangbing and other great calligraphers of the same period as Liu Gongquan represented new achievements in regular script, running script, cursive script and official script. There are undoubtedly many reasons for this situation. In addition to political and economic reasons, the main ones are due to the high development of literature and art, active thinking, and the material civilization of feudal society. It started a magnificent "prosperous Tang Dynasty".
