Feng Chengsu, courtesy name Wanshou, was from Xindu, Chang'an. Feng Chengsu has a very special status in the history of Chinese calligraphy. The original whereabouts of "Lanting Preface", "the best running script in the world", are still unknown, and future generations have no chance to see it. The "Lanting Preface" that people see now are all copies made by later generations. Among them, the "Shenlong Version" copied by Feng Chengsu, the imperial official of the Tang Dynasty, is known as the "most exquisite" among the Lanting versions and is recognized as the most accurate copy. The one close to the original Lanting painting is now in the Palace Museum. Throughout the ages, there are many people in the calligraphy field who "write with people's names". Feng Chengsu's official position was not high, but his reputation was comparable to that of Chu Suiliang and other senior officials above the fourth rank. He could be said to be one of the special cases of "people are named after books".
