"Basic Writing Techniques of Regular Script" by Ren Zheng
Ren Zheng (1916-1999), courtesy name Lanzhai, was born in Huangyan, Zhejiang. During his lifetime, he was a librarian of the Shanghai Research Institute of Literature and History, a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and an executive director of the Shanghai Calligraphers Association.
In 1979, the Shanghai Type Mold Factory invited famous calligraphers from all over the country to try their handwriting in order to fill the gap in the movable type layout of newspapers and magazines that lacked Chinese cursive script. At that time, more than 40 calligraphers participated in the competition. The author's name is hidden in the work, and readers' opinions are widely solicited. After the evaluation and voting, Ren Zhengxingshu won the bid in one fell swoop. Since then, the "Ren Zheng Zhi" has been adopted by major newspapers and periodicals across the country and CCTV. Later, it entered the national standard computer font library as a "standard writing model" and penetrated into thousands of households.
